Jimmie Åkesson reelected Sweden Democrats leader
Jimmie Åkesson was reelected as the leader of the Sweden Democrats on Saturday morning at the party's annual meeting in Lund, daily,Dagens Nyheter (DN) reports.
During his speech, Åkesson said that his party was "on its way to win".
"The other parties are competing about reducing the refugee influx. It's undeniable that reality has caught up with the established parties," Åkesson said.
He dismissed claims that the Sweden Democrats would take the hit now that the country's largest parties have started to tighten asylum rules.
"Our influence in Sweden's migration policy has never been as big as it is now. Our role is more important than ever," Åkesson said.
