Russia suspends visa-free travel with Turkey

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said that Moscow will suspend the visa-free regime with Turkey starting January 1, 2016.

                             

Lavrov said this during a joint press-conference with his Syrian counterpart Walid Muallem.

"The Russian government has deceided to suspend the free-visa regime between Russia and Turkey. The decision will come into effect on January ,1 2016," Lavrov has declared.

On Tuesday, Turkish F-16s shot down a Russian Su-24M Fencer bomber. Tensions have escalated between Russia and Turkey over the incident.
